Wolverine Origins 6- Dark Reign
It’s been 5 days since the showdown at Shaw’s estate in the South Pacific. Wolverine and Daken are now in Northern Africa
Cyber surprises them there and proposes they all work together to take Romulus down. Cyber informs them that he’s betrayed Romulus by telling Nick Fury about him
Wolverine refuses to cooperate with Cyber and tells Daken they can make Cyber tell them what he knows through quid pro quo- where the c-synth is vs information on Romulus. Daken goes along with it until he betrays Logan
They leave Logan injured and tied up and are gone for 8 hours until Logan finally frees himself. Cyber takes Daken to a barn in Saskatchewan where Cyber was one of the first human test subjects for adamantium-bonding. Daken is revealed to be playing double-agent and manipulates Cyber’s paranoia thus affecting his heart rate and killing him
Daken leaves the X-tracker that Logan gave him behind on Cyber’s chest letting Logan know he no longer plans to work with him
Fury approaches Logan at a bar and tells him Daken was last sighted in New York working for Osborn and masquerading as Wolverine
Fury offers information on Romulus in exchange for information on Daken from Wolverine
Fury admits to him that it was neither the C.I.A. nor the Canadian military that orchestrated Weapon X but a man named Frederick Hudson
He also tells him that Frederick’s brother, Elias Hudson, was the owner of the Hudson Bay company which Wolverine worked for many years ago and that they had a sister, Elizabeth Hudson- aka Logan’s mother. This is what Fury found out from Cyber
He continues by saying that Frederick Hudson fathered a bastard child named Frederick Hudson II aka Professor Andre Thorton who imbued adamantium into Wolverine’s skeleton. He fathered two other bastards: Victor Hudson and James Macdonald Hudson aka Guardian/Vindicator of Alpha Flight
Fury tells Logan that Romulus has always manipulated the Hudsons which means he has plans for Wolverine and Daken
Romulus manipulated Logan into a living weapon and only made him more unstoppable through Weapon X, however he never planned on the intervention of the X-men thus his target is the next best thing- Daken: a weapon intended for killing superheroes
Fury theorizes that Romulus plans to imbue Daken with the metal of the Muramasa blade which nulls healing factors and that Tinkerer is in NYC looking for it
Cyclops takes a team to NYC to warn Daken about tarnishing the reputation of the X-men and bringing the Muramasa with him. After Emma contacts Logan telling him that Cyclops is after his son, Logan tells them to stay away as it is what Daken wants so he can claim the sword
The X-men hunt Daken in Brooklyn who cleverly incapacitates them with landmines and wits. As he’s about to stab Cyclops with the blade, Wolverine interjects
A climactic battle ensues with Daken able to escape with a shard of the blade and Wolverine in possession of the rest of it. Cyclops wants Wolverine to do what’s necessary but he won’t because he believes Daken can be saved
Logan tails Tinkerer at Grand Central Station and is intercepted and pummeled by Victor Hudson, Romulus’ guard-dog who is mute and blind. Meanwhile, Daken and Tinkerer meet underground
Logan follows Victor into the tunnels and finds Daken with the Muramasa metal now in his arms. After Logan tells him he let Romulus escape on the train that they were on to instead find Daken, Daken stabs him but not with the Muramasa blades
Logan is in Russia 5 days later and with everyone thinking that Wolverine is part of Osborn’s Dark Avengers, he is free to go straight for Romulus
Meanwhile, Omega Red is brought into a Russian prison
