Spiderman follows a crook from a car chase down into the sewers
Spidey lets him go after deciding the cops can catch him and he’s already caught the 3 other crooks
While stumbling through the sewers, the crook finds a secret door leading to an equipment room- the lair of Green Goblin
The car chase ended in front of an Osborn warehouse
The crook shows another man the room who is pleased at finding Norman’s journals, notes, and weapons
They blow up the room to destroy an evidence of it existing
However when the firefighters arrive with Peter and Robbie Robertson, they note that the room wasn’t in the floor plan implying that it’s like a hideout
Peter recognizes it as one of Norman’s Green Goblin rooms
The crook gets blown up by the other man to tie up any loose ends
This man takes Norman’s tech to make himself a new goblin identity and dubs himself the Hobgoblin
More Osborn locations are hit and have hidden storerooms. Harry Osborn, a stockholder confirms it is probable as Norman was a secretive man
Spiderman checks a couple of Osborn’s warehouses and finds Hobgoblin at one of them
After their first battle, Hobgoblin realizes he’ll need to get stronger to keep up with Spiderman
Adrian Toomes aka Vulture attacks a former business partner named Gregory Bestman
He has a vendetta against him for cheating him and taking on a bigger share
Gregory is the reason Adrian became the Vulture who attacked and burned down Bateman’s business years ago
After reading in the paper that Gregoy is back in business, Adrian goes after him
Spiderman thwarts Vulture, saves Gregory’s life, and hands Vulture’s wings to the authorities
Spiderman gets into a tango with one of Mad Thinker’s androids who activated it from jail through an avatar at one of his bases. Spidey defeats it
Peter quits college so he can focus on being Spiderman
A man named Lefty Donovan hires crooks to steal chemicals from an Osborn warehouse
He takes it to Hobgoblin who plans to use these chemicals to enhance his strength
Spidey thinks Donovan is Hobgoblin
While Hobgoblin experiments with the chemicals they blow up in his face and he’s hospitalized but recuperates after 3 weeks and becomes HB again
Spiderman visits Dt Sgt. Lou Snider for info on Donovan because Donovan is entered into the precinct’s system
Spiderman discovers that Donovan was being questioned the night Spidey first Hobgoblin
HG who is now enhanced fights Spidey in Times Square after calling him out
When Spidey unmasks HG it is Donovan and wants to know who the real mastermind is and how Donovan got so strong but Donovan is blown up
The real HG watches from the shadows and plans to perfect the formula that Donovan used
Spidey questions a guy named Arthur “Nose” Norton about Hobgoblin which he knows nothing about and thinks HG is dead but Spidey tells him he Donovan was a fall guy
Spidey follows Norton to a warehouse where he gives some crooks a case in exchange for money
Before Spidey can intervene Frog-Man interrupts but fails to stop them and lets them get away. Spidey berates him
From photos that Spidey took at the warehouses, he deduces the crooks plan to commit a train heist on Long Island
Successfully stealing a big crate off it, the leader reveals himself to be Elliot Franklin aka Thunderball of the Wrecking Crew and uses Wrecker’s crowbar and his own ball and chain
Spidey uses his science smarts and electrifies Thunderball through his metal weapons
A sad and touching moment when Spiderman visits a child named Timothy Harrison at a cancer clinic who is a big fan and reveals his face when Timothy makes a request
The real HG enhances himself to Green Goblin’s gas and prepares for Spiderman
Liz Allan and Harry Osborn announce they are expecting
HG tangoes with Black Cat and Spiderman and Spidey berates Black Cat for getting in the way and underestimating HG who gets away
Peter attends a Midtown High reunion
Spidey witnesses a conversation between two former classmates C.J Vogel and Louis Minelli. Something about what Louis says to C.J makes him upset- a name, Remington Colt
Mentioning that Colt is a writer, Peter asks Betty and Ned Leeds who Colt is and they tell him he is a pseudonym used by all the writers at Milton Farr’s publishing company
She tells Peter that Milton was kidnapped by the mob
Minelli gives C.J a box to deliver to a warehouse which is photographed by an accomplice of Minelli and releases a gas when C.J opens it
Spidey saves C.J and then talks to him as Peter Parker
C.J. reveals he used to write for Milton as Remington Colt after which Minelli blackmailed to reveal his identity if C.J didnt deliver the package. The photograph was insurance
Milton was kidnapped for having information on the Kingpin
Milton has everything that C.J. wrote stashed under the floor and if Milton talks, C.J’s reputation is ruined
After C.J. tells Peter this, he thinks Peter wants a story to publish and C.J. races to find the stash meanwhile Milton tells the mob where it is hidden
Spidey reaches it first and takes the file on Remington Colt
Minelli, C,J, and the mobsters all arrive for the files at the same time
Spidey arrives and beats the crooks while Minelli and C.J flee
C.J destroys the RC files in a fire
Minelli lies to Kingpin and tells him it was he who destroyed the files. Because Kingpin could have used the info as leverage, he tells a lackey to punish Minelli
Minell is framed for the murder of Milton
Peter tells C.J it was Spidey not Minelli who saved the RC files out of the stash
Someone is blackmailing Jonah Jameson about his involvement in the creation of Mac Gargan as Scorpion
Harry Osborn is blackmailed about his father being Green Goblin
Jameson and Osborn attend the same meeting at the Century Association where HG addresses them and other men he’s blackmailed and tells them they’re going to become close associates
It turns out to be a robot, then the real HG crashes in
HG manages to neutralize Spidey’s spider-sense and punch him out
Spidey drops the spider-tracer he was about to use which Kingpin picks up and throws at Hobgoblin
Kingpin brings Spidey around and wakes him up and even confesses to Spiderman that his motives are selfish so that Spiderman can take HG down hence removing him as an obstacle
250th issue
Spiderman wants to find HG asap in case he finds out Peter’s identity from Norman’s journals but cannot because of his malfunctioning spider-sense
HG finds those exact notes and Spiderman’s tracer
Spidey tries talking to the club members who were blackmailed by HG who all refuse to cooperate
Spidey uses an old tracker to find HG. They battle and and Norman’s journals are destroyed
As HG tries to flee in his battle van, Spidey follows and an intense exchange of fisticuffs follows as each uses brute strength against the other
The spider-sense returns
The van short-circuits and blows when it lands in water and Spidey looks for HG in the water only to find a damaged mask
Spidey goes to Jameson and tells him he’s got nothing to worry about anymore but Jameson reveals that he confessed to his involvement with Scorpion in the Daily Bugle and so steps down as editor-in-chief
Joe Robertson is now editor-in-chief and Jameson is publisher
Peter reassures Harry that he doesn’t have to worry anymore either
While in Central Park, Spidey’s senses call him toward a giant dome-like structure
It is the same structure that transports him to Battleworld, thus leads into Secret Wars
