Spiderman: The Clone Saga Part 2 (The Trial of Peter Parker)
Peter Parker as Scarlet Spider talks to Dt. Jacob Raven and tells him that “Parker”is really innocent. Raven promises to solve the case if that is really the case
While Peter and MJ discuss at home about the potential risk that their unborn child could be in due to Peter’s irradiated blood of which MJ is very emotionally distraught about, Traveller appears and takes Peter to continue his ‘observations’.
Traveller shows Peter a one-day future in which of all of NYC will be obliterated from a geothermal heating station and presents him with an ultimatum of allowing everyone to die and only save his wife and child and live with them alone or save NY and still have MJ and his child
Peter stops Traveller’s subordinates at the station as a time vortex opens up due to Traveller’s meddling with time which attempts to suck him in until Peter saves him
Scrier and Traveller inquire as to why Peter saved him. Scrier tells Peter that this act of heroism has made Traveller all the more curious and puzzled by Peter’s nature and will now be harassed by the fact that Peter now understands HIM and his personal experiences with evil when pulling him from the time vortex. Scrier proclaims that Traveller will return and then the two leave as Peter and MJ embrace
Peter gets involved in stopping a self-proclaimed hero going by Firefist but it is not Rusty Collins. He encounters Green Goblin but after realizing it is not and can’t be Norman or Harry Osborn since they are both dead and that this new person is actually helping him, Spidey is able to apprehend Firefist and stop him from eliminating ‘vermin’ such as homeless people
Ben Urich goes around talking to people that Peter knew to gain testimonies for Peter’s upcoming trial
While trying to find Kaine, Kaine finds Peter. Peter tells Kaine to prove Reilly’s innocence
“Peter Parker’s” trial begins
Kaine is determined to let Reilly suffer whatever consequences
As Stunner and Dt. Raven just find Kaine and Peter brawling, Traveller appears and takes both Kaine and Peter. He teleports them to a sub-basement at Ravencroft Institute where he executes a trial for Peter’s life. Carnage is prosecutor as Shriek, Chameleon, Carrion, Vermin, and other inmates act as jurors and Kaine, Dr. Kafka, and John Jameson III act as defense
This happens simultaneously to Reilly’s trial
Traveller’s purpose for the trial is to discover whether these villains’ reasons for being are simply because of Spiderman’s existence or if he truly is a hero who without him the villains would run amok regardless
The jury finds Peter guilty and Traveller sentences Peter to death just as Kaine intervenes to protect Peter. The villains are suddenly teleported back to their cells by Traveller who was testing Kaine as the DA and proved himself as well as bringing to light the nature of the Parkers. Through Kaine’s sacrifice, Traveller understands Peter’s earlier sacrifice to save him, and being satisfied, leaves
Peter and Kaine struggle to the courthouse. Kaine proves he was the murderer of many victims when he places a mark on a table
“Peter” is exonerated as Kaine allows himself to be apprehended by Dt. Raven for the murder of SLCPD partner Louise Kennedy. Prior to Kaine’s arrest, he attempted murder on Reilly
The Daily Bugle celebrates Peter’s innocence- even Jonah in his office secretly
