Generations

  • Several heroes are transported to the past and meet their predecessors. This occurs directly after the events of Secret Empire due to the Cosmic Cube

  • The first story sees Amadeus Cho, The Totally Awesome Hulk, taken back to when Banner had first become The Incredible Hulk and is being pursued and hunted by General Ross’ army

  • Cho battles Banner to stop him from harming and killing Ross and his soldiers

  • After both transforming into their human selves, Banner wonders how Cho is able to control it. Cho keeps the truth to himself that he literally took the Hulk from Banner in the future

  • Cho sees Banner’s sad life as a man on the run

  • Banners makes Cho realize that the Hulk is a curse, not a gift, and that Cho should rid himself of it before it takes over

  • Cho is returned to the present just as he transforms


  • After the events of Avengers vs X-Men , Beast had the original 5 X-men brought from the past to the present to talk sense into present Cyclops

  • The younger Jean has been time-displaced once again where she is taken from the present moment to the past when she first possessed the Phoenix Force (after the shuttle event but before Proteus and Dark Phoenix Saga). She does not know it is the Phoenix in a Jean Grey avatar 

  • Young Jean wants to understand the Phoenix from the other Jean who tells her that its purpose is to save lives and protect but Young Jean knows how wrong she is having heard stories of Dark Phoenix

  • Young Jean witnesses the incredible power for herself when Jean repels Galactus and his herald Terrax from consuming a planet

  • Other Jean asks Young Jean what’s bothering her who is very conflicted about telling Other Jean that she will become Dark Phoenix. The Watcher then appears who tells Young J that whatever decision she makes will have a very great impact and he is forbidden to help

  • YJ decides not to say anything for fear of altering events 

  • With that, YJ is taken back to the present


  • X-23 is taken back to the period when Wolverine and Mariko were lovers and had adopted a girl named Amiko Kobayashi

  • At this point, The Hand and Sabretooth kidnapped her and with X-23’s help, her and Wolverine take Amiko home to Mariko 

  • Clearly the event happened differently originally

  • As Wolverine is about to leave for Amiko’s safety, Laura (X-23) implores him to stay one more night with her and helps him realize she’s much safer with him around 

  • Just before Laura is taken back to the present, Laura embraces Logan and tells him she misses him as he is currently dead

  • At some point in Earth’s history, either during the period of Ancient Egypt or Vikings (unclear since both cultures appear), Thor and Apocalypse battle, answering their respective people’s prayers 

  • Jane the Goddess of Thunder appears from the future and assists Thor in defeating Apocalypse

  • Thor currently wields his axe Jarnbjorn and wonders how Jane is able to hold Mjolnir. She tells him she learned by watching him

  • Thor tells her he cannot lift and is not worthy and Jane tells him it’s not his divinity that makes him worthy but his humanity that someday will


  • In Hawkeye’s past, Kate Bishop finds herself in a jungle on an island where expert marksmen are participating in an elimination contest 

  • She finds Hawkeye but there are other marksmen on the island as well including Boomerinf, Crossfire, Barton’s mentor Swordsman, and Bullseye

  • After eventually winning, Kate expresses her admiration for Hawkeye then disappears


  • Riri Williams is taken 70 years into the future 

  • She meets Tony Stark there where he is Sorceror Supreme

  • He tells her that together they have made the world a much better place with non-existent pollution, diseases, crime, currency etc.

  • Stark and Franklin Richards tell her she’s come to exact moment in time to see how much she’s accomplished and for inspiration

  • With that Riri returns to her own time


  • Carol Danvers is transported to Mar-Vell’s past in the Negative Zone where he was imprisoned by the Supreme Intelligence for treason against the Kree Empire

  • Together they liberate and help the Mydonians repel Annihilus and his forces from conquering them

  • Carol admits to him that she appreciates their bond and then disappears


  • Kamala Khan is taken back to the 1960s where she helps Carol Danvers defeat a Shi’ar named Nightscream

  • In the present, Carol and Kamala went their separate ways due to their philosophies but here in the past, Kamala has gained inspiration to try and work it out with Carol when she returns to the present


  • Miles Morales appears just after the point in Peter Parker’s life when he realized he had much more strength than he thought and lifted a beam off him after battling Doc Ock in ASM 31-33

  • Miles and Peter speak about the experience then Peter gets a call that Aunt May will be okay. He falls asleep and Miles realizes he came here to learn how personal it is being Spiderman is and is grateful to Peter for sharing it with him


  • The final story focuses around Sam Wilson. He is displaced to the start of WWII and meets Captain America and helps him believe in himself and that he will accomplish many great things

  • Sam grows old and watches his children and grandchildren while also experiencing the Civil Rights era and Captain America reawakening from the ice and joining the Avengers

  • He witnesses the Superhero Civil War, the death of Captain America, and his aging after the Super-Soldier wore off

  • They talk as old friends and admit they’ve inspired each other. Sam watches as his younger self becomes the new Captain America

  • The agents questioning Sam in the present who questioned everyone else who went to the past are looking for Kobik, the personified form of the Cosmic Cube who set the events of Secret Empire into motion. Sam does not give them any answers

  • Falcon and Jane discuss and theorize that Kobik not only wanted the younger generation to witness their predecessors in their earliest days but also intended for them to gain inspiration to walk their own paths

  • The story ends with Falcon tossing the shield back to a young Steve telling him the people will believe in him again (see Secret Empire)
