Agents of Shield Season 6

Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._season_6_poster.jpg

Taking place a year after the end of the previous season, Coulson has passed away and Mack is now Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s been re-legitimized again though I feel that the writers chose to jump ahead a full year so that they would not have to explain how S.H.I.E.L.D became legitimate again which I guess is not important. The season sees an alien being named Sarge vs another alien known as Izel.

In the previous season, there were 3 monoliths stored in one of the sub-levels of the Lighthouse. Known as the Di’allas, one represented Time, another Space, and the third, Creation. The Time monolith is the very same which Enoch used to transport the team to 2091 and back. Through a combination of the three monoliths’ energies, when Hale’s bomb exploded it fused the three energies into what Fitz theorized was a ‘Fear Dimension’ and created various people that had been dead or absent for a long time such as Hive, Lash, Will Daniels, and Deathlok. Sarge, who mysteriously shows up out of nowhere looking exactly like Coulson and with a team of 3 others, has come to Earth in hopes of destroying The Shrike- bat-like parasites who take hosts on any planet, take over the brain and every bodily system in their bodies, and serve Izel who gives life to the Shrike. A man without any compunction, he does whatever is necessary to achieve his goal, including killing anyone who gets in his way and even abandoning or disregarding his own teammates. His methods come into conflict with the team who he makes an enemy out of but eventually works with to stop Izel. Although he does not have any regard for anybody’s life but his own, his goal is not to end Earth nor really save it but to end Izel. Eventually, Izel and Sarge come face to face in the Lighthouse where Sarge was kept prisoner and Izel infiltrated by bodily possession where she reveals that he is actually of the same incorporeal species she is who have no forms and are able to possess physical bodies thus, when the Di’allas energies were dispersed they created a duplicate body of Coulson which Sarge inhabited through space and time from his planet. His real name is Pachakutiq. In a final showdown in a pre-colonial indigenous-American temple, Izel attempts to bring her species to Earth through the Di’allas which were reconstructed by a time-displaced Flint to have them take over the bodies which the Shrike were possessing. The plan is foiled, May is stabbed but manages to kill Izel, and Pachakutiq is killed by Mack.

A subplot within the main one involved the Chronicoms of Chronyca-2 pursuing Fitz and Simmons and wanting to know how they manipulated time which Fitz and Simmons could not even explain. Izel’s Shrike managed to overtake Chronyca-2 forcing Sarge to obliterate the entire planet making the Chronicoms believe that were it not for S.H.I.E.L.D’s interference with time, that occurrence would not have happened. Forcibly mapping Fitz and Jemma’s minds, the Chronicoms gain intel on S.H.I.E.L.D and its history and travel back in time to change it. Jemma manages to lock the Zephyr One onto the Chronicom ship’s timewarp signature to follow them wherever they go and end up in 1931. Jemma reveals a Coulson Chronicom/L.M.D. that she, Fitz, and Enoch somehow managed to design in the final episode of the season while the Chronicoms were attacking the Lighthouse and explains that with the L.M.D. uploaded with Coulson’s knowledge, he can guide the team and use his wisdom to counteract the Chronicoms. This is what Season 7 is about.
