X-Men: Fatal Attractions

  • A very ideological story. Mainly revolves around Magneto and what has influenced him to believe in his ideals up to this point

  • The plot begins with a group known as the Acolytes, established as Magneto’s highly extreme and fanatic followers of his radical dream for mutant superiority

  • The Acolytes feel it is their right to purge the Earth of humans as retaliation for the way humans have treated mutants

  • Magneto has allegedly been killed on his haven Asteroid M

  • X-men plan to attack the Acolytes’ main base in France with the Gold Team- Jean Grey, Colossus, Wolverine, Bishop, Archangel, and Storm led by Prof X

  • Nightcrawler rendezvouzes with them with the addition of Cyclops and Iceman

  • It’s revealed the leader of the Acolytes, Fabian Cortez, murdered Magneto….allegedly

  • One of the Acolytes is removed from the team by Fabian after he discovers that Fabian killed Magneto. He is attacked by the other Acolytes then rescued by the X-men. They defeat the Acolytes and take Moira Mactaggert, who was held prisoner, with them

  • Illyana Rasputin passes away after being infected with the Legacy Virus. Colossus becomes very distraught

  • The Acolytes are after a base in Kentucky where Valerie Cooper takes Quicksilver and a mutant mercenary over to investigate. Havok, Polaris, Guido, and Wolfsbane arrive after Valerie reveals the reason why the Acolytes want the base- Sentinels

  • The Acolytes never wanted the Sentinels and instead were targeting Quicksilver to attempt to get him to join and lead the Acolytes. The X-men are angry with Valerie for knowing about Project Wideawake (the Sentinels placed there) and being involved with it

  • Exodus appears and offers only Sunspot and Cannonball a place in Avalon (the Acolyte sanctuary above Earth). He takes them plus Rictor, Boomer, Rusty, and Skids

  • It is revealed that Avalon is Cable’s former ship Graymalkin whom Magneto has taken for his home

  • Cable confronts Magneto on Graymalkin who effortlessly rips him apart

  • Cable is transported back to Earth by Graymalkin’s computer where he is rejuvenated by X-Force

  • Fabian’s murder of Magneto is discovered by the Acolytes. Exodus takes his place

  • During Illyana’s funeral, Magneto descends from the heavens to offer the X-men to join him in Avalon to survive the purge of humanity. He is psionically flung into space by Xavier but not before Colossus joins the Acolytes after becoming disillusioned with Xavier’s philosophy

  • Exodus offers Toad’s Brotherhood of Mutants (Blob, Pyro, Phantazia) sanctuary but they refuse

  • Magneto retaliates after humans set up satellites globally that blanket the planet with an electromagnetic shield meant to disrupt his abilities

  • Through a magnetic attack, Magneto takes out power in major cities across the world

  • Xavier takes the fight up to Avalon with Rogue, Gambit, Wolverine, Quicksilver, and Jean

  • When Magneto decides that Quicksilver must be quelled, Wolverine slashes him which makes Magneto VERY ANGRY and thus…...removes the adamantium from Wolverine’s skeleton

  • Xavier takes Magneto’s mind. He is an empty husk now. Wolverine recuperates with Xavier’s and Jean’s psychic abilities

  • The X-men attempt to get Colossus back. Colossus chooses to stay with the Acolytes but not as an enemy to the X-men

  • After the X-men and Wolverine discover his claws are bone and a part of his skeleton, Wolverine decides to leave to seek answers

  • In the interim Cable and Rachel Summers meet and feel a connection- this is because Cable is actually Nathan Christopher Summers, the son of Jean’s clone Madelyne Pryor and Cyclops of the present timeline and Rachel is Jean and Cyclops’ daughter from the DOFP timeline thus they are siblings
